Over its long history the Kent Art Printers (KAP) has evolved dramatically....

In early 1990 the firm moved to its current location in Chatham, completely taking over and refurbishing an engineering factory. In previous lives this building had also been used as a Cash & Carry Warehouse (Nurdin & Peacock) and as an Ice Cream Distribution Depot (Wall's). Clues to the previous use can be seen in our Warehouse, where the walls are metres thick and very well insulated. This helps to keep our unprinted paper stock at an optimum temperature - without excessive heating or air-conditioning requirements.

The changing face of our service provision..

During the 60s the Company provided not only Litho, but also Letterpress, Screen printing, and Sign Writing processes.

A fire in 1977 destroyed the Screen printing dept. It was soon decided to re-structure the Company, majoring on Litho Printing and Finishing.

During the 80s, gradual expansion of the design studio (Designex) took place... as we realised the benefits to our customers of the fast turnround possible with the latest technology (especially when under in-house control).

The 1990s saw further expansion of our facilities with the dramatic new construction of our design and repro departments. This also allowed us to provide a stunning new customer meeting and presentation area within our main building (formerly our platemaking facility).

The early 'noughties' see us focussing on :-

  • alcohol-free printing and other environmental improvements
  • complex project management
  • IT integration of projects as our core business
