KAP has started its Biodiversity work from a non-existent base.

KAP's factory site was built on a concrete raft to protect the nearby aquifer from contamination from the industrial activities that would be carried out in a typical unit. The previous occupants of our building have been a Wall's Ice Cream depot, a Nurdin & Peacock Cash and Carry, and an Engineering Shop.

We do have some small areas of Greenery - our Biodiversity Bank - a steep slope at the rear of our main factory, where the wildlife is left to its own devices. We see blackcurrants growing there, as well as an array of wild flowers. We have also planted a laurel hedge - which provides a habitat to an incredible number of birds.

Round the site, we have built own own bird boxes, and put up some bat boxes, bug boxes and bird feeders.

We compost our food and hand towel waste, and this is used on the tubs around the building.
